 The next Interveterans Council meeting is June 25, 2025 at 6PM the Navy Club.

This evening's meeting guest was Bob Cox from Capitol City Builders.  They are a group of woodworking hobbyists.  They are willing to make urns for unaccompanied veterans at Camp Butler that arrive in cardboard boxes.  He is only asking for money for materials and not labor. 
He brought a prototype to the meeting showing how the cremains arrived in the past and the box that will replace it with dignity.  He mentions that the Springfield DAR has donated $200 toward the project already.  A box was used as part of the vacant chair ceremony at Memorial Day ceremony at Camp Butler. 
Materials for each run about $20 for wood, glue and screws.

n celebration of our 108th Birthday, the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Army, and Flag Day, Scott Air Force Base is scheduled to host an Open House and STEM Expo on Jun. 14, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We invite the public out to the base to see their U.S. Armed Forces in action and to meet the servicemen and women who defend our nation. There will be a variety of aircraft and military equipment for viewing, as well performances by the U.S. Air Force Band of MidAmerica.  As details are finalized, they will be posted to our Web site at Open House.

Fish Fry at VFW 10302

Bring your unserviceable flags to SCHEELS on June 14th from
10am-3pm and we'll exchange your retired flag for a free new American Made one.
We will also be hosting a flag retirement ceremony performed by the American Legion Post #32 Springfield Illinois members at SCHEELS to properly dispose of the unserviceable United States flags.

VFW 10302
 1.  We will be having Mouse Races here at Post 10302 on July 12 with doors opening at 6 pm and races from 7-10. A flyer is attached.
  2.  Our Annual Poker Run will be September 6. It will begin and end here at Post 10302. Once we have all the destinations and a flyer, we will forward it to you.
  3.  Post 10302 will have a cookout on July 4th. A sign up sheet is available in the Canteen for side dishes for those who wish to participate.
