 Women veterans stand down at the Elks Lodge June 11, 2022

On Saturday, June 11th, National Louis University and the University of Chicago will be partnering with organizations across the state of Illinois to host the 2nd annual Women Veterans Stand Down.

 

In honor of Women Veterans Appreciation Day (June 12th), the Women Veterans Stand Down will be an event exclusively for women veterans to network and connect with local veteran resources.

 

The hybrid event will be hosted virtually and in-person at host sites and will have two sessions to meet the availabilities of attendees. The virtual morning session will host workshops during the time of 9:00AM-12:00PM. Keynote speaker, Dr. Martha Herb, Rear Admiral (Retired), will present from 12:00PM-1:00PM: https://nl.edu/student-services/veterans-and-military-support/stand-down-event/martha-herb-bio/. The virtual afternoon session will host workshops during the time of 1:00PM-4:00PM. The workshops hosted in the morning will be the same workshops hosted in the afternoon. The in-person host sites will be throughout the state of Illinois at the following locations: National Women Veterans United (Chicago); Hope Manor II (Chicago); University of Chicago (Chicago); Harold Washington College (Chicago); LaSalle County Veterans Assistance Commission (Peru); Elks Lodge (Springfield); and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (Edwardsville). The in-person host sites will stream the virtual workshops and keynote, have veteran organizations in attendance, and will provide gift bags and refreshments during the morning and afternoon sessions. *The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) host site will not be providing breakfast.

 

For the southern Illinois region, the in-person host site will be at Lovejoy Library on the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) campus, and will be participating in the afternoon activities. The SIUE library will host the event during the time of 11:30AM-4:00PM.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 27th. The Stonington American Legion Post 257 Auxiliary and the Taylorville VFW 4495 Auxiliary will be hosting a Wreaths Across America Benefit Run. Please see the attached photo for details!

I am so excited for this, I have been wanting to do this from the start but was lacking people to help. I'm so happy the Legion and VFW Auxiliary working together to do this. I hope this is the first of many years to come!!

SATURDAY, JULY 9, 2022 AT 11:30 PM

POST 10302 FUNDRAISER POKER RUN

Poker run starts at 11:30 at post 755 on old Jacksonville road. Stops will be announced on the day of event.  Dinner band, silent auction, door prizes and so much more @ POST 10302 STOCKYARD ROAD BEHIND HALLS HARLEY SHOP.

 

We are the starting the countdown for the September 30, 2022 Legionnaires Foundation Golf Outing.  Golf groups, Hole Sponsors and Door Prize items are needed.  We have included a sponsor letter to help with your business contacts. .  Bring the letter, brochure and the pix of one of our course signs to a business and just ask. We need to make this happen, it’s our only fundraiser this year.  Family and individual hole sponsors are welcome.  Business and restaurant Gift Certificates, small items and gifts are also needed for our door prizes.

 

Get a foursome together. We have great time and hopefully a bunch of door prizes.
